¨The true poet knows life is laced with pain. Human life is fashioned for tragedy.¨
- Father pg:45
I picked this quote because it is true. A lot of people do not understand how badly the world has gotten. Our life has gotten worse and worse over the years, and its not getting any better. We experience minor tragedies throughout the day, even if it is just losing your keys. We have a lot of hatred and violence in the world, but we are not doing anything about it. I love the way the father said fashioned because it shows that we have a choice of fashioning (going with it) the problem or standing up for what is right. Whatever tragedies we go through, we never give up, we fight and pull through it. Everyone has pain in our life but we cannot be pushed around or give up, because thats when they know, they got you. We need to remember that there will be tragedies along the way, but it is you who chooses to conquer it.
This quote connects to so many things in our everyday life. During the Holocaust the Jews thought that they were going to be okay, because the Nazis lied to them. Even though every week would bring even more harm to the Jews, for example beating them or even starving them. In the movie, The Pianist, they had Jews run away from the Nazis, but they didn't get far because they shot them. The Nazis would bring them harm for no apparent reason.Even though they experienced so much abuse, they never gave up hope. The violence and the hatred still continues right now, for example the Boston Bombing. We cannot even have a race without people dying, the good thing though is that we still have people who will stop what they're doing and come to someone's aid. A little girl was running for the Sandy Hook’s shooting and she didn't even make it to the finish line. That shows how messed up our world is, we are the ones who are going to destroy it. Not someone from another country. Us. We are the monsters who bring tragedy to our day. That is why we have to make things right, but the thing is, we can't live without a bit of tragedy either.
