- In her diary, Anne Frank wrote that she believed “most people are good.” Do you agree with Anne? If so, why, and if not, why not? (Echoes and Reflections)
I do agree with Anne Frank because most people are good. I think that all people are good to begin with. People do the wrong thing because someone told them to, or they learned that was right thing to do. I believe the people you grow up around teach you wrong, or role model in a bad or a good way. Everyone has the bad trait. Some people just show it more often. You can choose to be good or evil. A lot of people choose good, but there are also many people who choose the opposite. I think Anne Frank is somewhat right. Most people are good. But the evil stands out over the good, so we do not always notice how many people actually are good. For example, some of the people who saved Jews. They risked their life to save someone else. They are the good. The bad people are the people who killed. Under order. They are doing it because someone else told them to. They weren't born determined to kill Jews. Someone changed them so that they would do that. We just know about the bad people, because we're afraid of them. We always judge people, before we really know who they are. In conclusion I do think Anne Frank was kind of right because, everyone is good but the evil in them over powers it.
I agree with you and Anne Frank, that most people are good. It is sad because when people talk about the Holocaust, they only talk about the killings. What people often don’t give recognition to the people who do good. The family who took in Anne Frank were not the only ones who did this. There were also many other families who did the same to protect their friends. Also many people helped get the Jews out of the war and to countries that were safe. These are the people who were truly good, yet they don’t get enough recognition. I also agree that the soldiers who did the killings, they did it because they were also scared for their lives. Even though these soldiers might have some good inside them, if they participated in the killing, I believe they should still get punished. Even though we might not know if they were good people, if they committed murder and they should take responsibility for what they did.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, we don't always learn about the good people. The main things are the murders. They don't usually tell us who the good people were. We learn about the bad people. But like you said, the good people, who did kill, still deserve the punishment even if the are good. They chose to make a bad choice.
DeleteI agree with you and Anne Frank, most people are good. But i don't agree with the statement,"people do the wrong thing because someone told them to." I believe that statement isn't true because some people don't have to be told to be bad, they join in because they see their peers doing it. All people aren't born good it depends on the person, some people are born good some aren't. When Hitler was a kid he didn't live in a good household, he was treated poorly. He wasn't told to kill all the Jews, his actions were reflected upon his childhood life. That can also be the scenario in people that are evil. I believe the majority of people are good, but sometimes people make mistakes. From those little mistakes people perceive them as bad.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point. Not all people do bad things when they are told to. Some people do it because of the peers and surroundings. Like you said their family, or friends. But in a way the surrounding could be pressuring them into doing it, which is someone making them. People get judged on everything they do, that's why some people are looked at, and said to be bad.
