Having No Control

“This was my home once, my town, my country.” -Elli page 212.

To me, this quote means that once this was her home and now it’s not. It isn’t hers anymore because while her family was away, people took over it all. If someone took over my home, town, and country I’d be really mad. It’s not fair when people barge in make you leave and take over everything that belongs to my family and I. I can’t imagine how sad it is for people that came back to their home after the war was over and weren’t aloud to live in it anymore. It wasn’t their fault they had to leave their homes. I know Elli was sad/mad because she came back and she was talking about how it was their home before and it isn’t anymore.

With the economy now, people lose jobs, which cuts their salary down. People start to lose their possessions slowly. They can’t control what is happening in their life. Some people can’t change what is happening. Some just have to go along with people and what they tell them. When my grandpa died, my grandma had to sell her house and move into a small apartment because later on she wouldn’t be able to pay for the house. At least she was successful and was able to manage a home for herself. But some people, lose their houses and are homeless or if they are old enough to go to retirement home. I know a family that lost their jobs a couple years ago and they went homeless because they couldn’t afford for it. They had to live with friends and family whenever they could. All these people are the same as the families during World War II and the Holocaust. The Jews were forced to leave their homes and other people were allowed to move into the home.
