The Fight

  • Talk about one or more of the Resistance readings.  What were your feelings?  Connections? Thoughts?
  • How would you define resistance?  How did Jews and non-Jews resist Nazi oppression?  What do you think about their actions?

In the reading Jewish Resistance it said that all over Jews were fighting for their lives. They said they would rather die fighting than die in the arms of the Nazis. I feel bad for all the Jews who fought and died but I do salute them for their bravery. The Jew uprisings remind me of similar uprising in the Hunger Games, the districts could not take another one of their annual Hunger Games so they fought back. The Capital relies on the districts for supplies and food, so the districts decided to destroy all of their supplies so the Capital could not have any. They started fighting back against the Peacekeepers who would be the Nazis to the Jews. I would define resistance as a way of fighting for what you believe in and your freedom.  According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum it says the non-Jews would fight against the Nazis with armed forces. The SS tried to have the Gypsies leave their barracks in Auschwitz Gypsy family camp but the Gypsies would not leave. With knives and axes the Gypsies fought back and drove away the SS. The Czech agents even assassinated a Nazi governor (Reinhard Heydrich)! I think that is really awesome for people to come together and fight against the Nazis even though they may not make it back alive. People who think they can bully or hurt others because they think that the others are weak and are not going to be able to fight against them was what the Nazis thought about the Jews and other countries - but they were wrong.
